Amazed by Maidstone’s Maze Moon

Maidstone’s newest attraction – Maze Moon – has burst to life with two tall maize mazes surrounded by colourful sunflower fields. With a coffee van, refreshments and ice creams, picnic benches, toilets and baby change facilities all on site, this makes for a very enjoyable morning or afternoon.

Maidstone’s Maze Moon is situated at Boarley Lane, Sandling (ME14 3BS) and this weekend promises to be the best yet with the sunflowers about to spring into full bloom.

Both mazes are great fun to navigate and include two separate games for children to complete on their way around. Set within a very large field, this keeps families entertained for a good long time. You certainly could get lost in the mazes, so I was very pleased maps are given to all, but if you do lose your way, the markers will give you clues to your whereabouts!

One maze is much smaller than the other and used as a warm up to test your map reading skills for the impressive ‘main maze’ – cleverly grown in the shape of a giant, beaming sunflower head. Paths are well defined and after every few markers there are benches for a short stop before charging ahead to find the next game clue.

After conquering the mazes you will be given a free sunflower as a momento of your day. The 20 varieties of sunflowers grown provide a huge array of colours, varying from yellow, orange, deep red through to white sunflowers.

With family tickets (for four people) starting at £20 and additional tickets for £6.00 per person, this is a fun morning or afternoon activity in gorgeous surroundings. If you just want to wonder the sunflower fields and ‘pick your own’ this ticket option is also available with sunflower prices starting at £1 each.
