The All New ‘Horseshoes’!

The Horseshoes pub in East Farleigh has been a part of the community for decades, owned by Mitchells and Butlers as one of their Premium Country Pub’s (along with ‘The White Horse’ in Bearsted) The Horseshoes has been closed for refurbishment for over a week and the results – achieved in a pretty quick turnaround – look impressive.

The entrance has been stylised so that the bar and restaurant areas are distinct and the colour scheme throughout is rich plum, teal, bright and lush greens, maroons, greys and creams complimented with contemporary floral design fabrics, blinds and large nature inspired light fittings.

This grade two listed building still retains the charm and wooden beamed beauty regulars will be accustomed too, with log fires dancing their welcome in the bars and restaurant, yet the all new contemporary design blends perfectly.

The look of the new Horseshoes is not the only change, there has been a menu overhaul and the introduction of an entire vegan menu, a new and more inclusive children’s menu, many new dishes on their main menu and a rather impressive drinks menu with gin galore and a varied and tempting non-alcoholic drinks menu – which, in general, is always lacking in pubs.

We were invited to try the new food and drinks on their pre-opening night (The Horseshoes re-opens on Saturday 7th December) and tucked in heartily. With King Prawn Gratin to start, Rack of Lamb for the main and Lemon Meringue Flamed Alaska for dessert I was spoilt – although I admit to food envy seeing others tuck into the sticky toffee pudding which looked more appetising.

It is clear the kitchen has passion and the front of house staff were extremely attentive and welcoming. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Horsehoes for a good night out – especially for the all new gin mixology area. It is a night out which will leave drivers feeling special instead of feeling the burden of being the ‘designated driver’. Put it on your list of places to try or risk suffering from FOMO (fear of missing out).
