Complete ‘The Mason Mile’ for BBC Children in Need!
On Friday, the 16th of November at Heather House Field, Bicknor Road in Park Wood, Maidstone why not take part in ‘The Mason Mile’ – a simple challenge raising money for BBC Children in Need asking if you ‘can you jog a mile in 10 minutes’!
The Mason Mile is a series of free family events, paid for by the Mason Foundation and its sponsors, based around this simple challenge. Any Mason Mile event is open to all ages and abilities, with allowances for disability and hopes to encourage family well-being from a young age by promoting the fun initiative of completing a mile, whether it’s completed by a walk, jog or run. Founded in 2016 over 10,000 runners have completed the Mason Mile, which is marketed and organised through housing associations, schools and authorities.
The Mason Mile, with support from Golding Homes and Wellbeing People, will be fundraising for the BBC Children in Need with a special event at Parkwood Park. The foundation aims to raise in excess of £5,000 for Children in Need, and this will mean that participation across Maidstone is key to achieving this.
For each under 13 child attending, the Mason Mile will donate between £2 and 50p, dependant on completion time. Adults and children over the age of 13 are encouraged to make a small donation to the BBC Children in Need collectors, who will be located around the event.
The event will take part throughout the day, from 10am until 4pm, with a total of 6 runs on the hour.
As well as raising money for BBC Children in Need, if a child completes a mile they are given a small amount of money (from £2 to 50p) depending on the time they achieve! It is not a race, but the money does provide an additional incentive! Even pets get 50p for completing the mile…
